Pre-Operative Checklist  

There are several items that need to be done to prepare for surgery:

4-6 Weeks Before Surgery

Schedule Your Surgery Date

Our surgical coordinator will arrange a date and time for your surgery.

Obtain Medical/Cardiac Clearance.

Call your doctor and make an appointment for a complete pre-operative exam.

 Dental Checkup.

See your dentist and take care of dental work or routine cleaning. You should not have any dental work for 3 months after surgery. 

 

 2-4 Weeks Before Surgery

Obtain Handicap Permit From Our Office.

Take this application to the Secertary of State. The permit is to be used for after surgery.

Attend Joint Class.

Our surgical coordinator will arrange a time for you to attend

Pre-Op Appointment With Our Docotors.

This is the final appointment before your surgery. Bring a list of all your medications to this appointment. 

 

1-2 Weeks Before Surgery

Stop Taking All Arthritis Medications.

These medications can thin the blood and should be stopped one week before surgery.

Stop all Blood Thinners As Instructed By Your Cardiologist.

These include Plavix, Coumadin, Pradaxa, Xarelto, and Eliquis. Please let our office know if you are on any of these medications.

1-2 Days Before Surgery

 Confirm Surgery Time.

Our surgical coordinator or someone from the hospital will call to confirm your surgery time.

Do Not Eat or Drink Anything After Midnight The Day Before Your Surgery.

This is for your own saftey. You may be instructed by the anesthesiologist to take certain medications the morning of surgery.

Prepare Your Skin With Anti-spetic Wipes

The hospital will provide these wipes. Use these the day before your surgery.
